The last section of The Sound and the Fury is unique in that is is not narrated in the first person by one of the Compson brothers. It focuses mostly on Dilsey and relates Quentin’s escape and the sermon of Reverend Shegog. Because it is narrated in the third person, it is sometimes thought of as being the easiest section to read; however, as with all of Faulkner’s works, it’s best to read carefully and critically.
